Turkey Krautburgers

Upon opening the freezer or refrigerator after a busy, productive day you find yourself mulling over what to have for dinner or a light snack. It would be nice to have something different and yet filling and satisfying. Turkey Krautburgers are a great alternative to a traditional hamburger or cheeseburger. These krautburgers are savory pastries fill with ground turkey meat, white onions (vidalia onions are my choice), sauerkraut, and mozzarella cheese.

Baked until golden brown and brushed with melted butter, they great when accompanied by spicy brown mustard or horseradish sauce. These krautburgers are a healthy alternative to the traditional German pastry filled with ground beef and cabbage. They can be made ahead of time and frozen so when you open your freezer or refrigerator, grab some and place them in a 350F/ 180 C preheated oven for 10 minutes or the microwave on high for about 2 minutes. I enjoy these with my favorite spice brown mustard or horseradish sauce.

Feel free to substitute your favorite ground meat/protein and whatever cheese you have on hand as I am sure they will be delicious!
